Chewbacca Closes Out Clone Wars. So Where's Solo?

Everyone’s favorite Wookiee kicks Trandoshan ass and makes his name in Friday’s season three finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. So when do rebel loyalists get to see Han Solo’s cameo? And what about Porkins?

Those characters “haven’t made it into Clone Wars yet,” supervising director Dave Filoni told Wired.com in an e-mail. “But there will be some other familiar faces appearing in Season 4.”

Filoni wouldn’t budge on which iconic character from Star Wars ‘ decades-long history will bow next season, and he said his orders for galactic discretion come right from the top.

“As far as other classic characters go, I tend to be very careful about when and how we incorporate them,” Filoni said. “We have to have a good reason to bring back classic characters, and when we do, George [Lucas] is always involved. The stories are approved by him, so we know it fits within his overall vision.”

It’s an explosive end to a season that veered from meditative political procedurals to darkly philosophical allegories like the stunning “Mortis” story arc. The very busy Filoni promises, without divulging too much, that next season will up the ante.

“The season premiere is so big, we are still mixing sound and music on it,” Filoni said. “We’re working on multiple episodes at one time right now…. I’m looking at a bunch of new scripts and designs, and several episodes are in editorial. So there’s a great deal of Star Wars getting created every day.”

Star Wars: The Clone Wars airs Friday at 8 p.m./7 p.m. Central on Cartoon Network.
