Phew could be something worse huh? Lol

 

Definitely could be worse. You’d be surprised how many ninnies have tattoos done by my son lol.

 

Let’s hear more about this ritual hmmmm

 

Walk to the bakery and back, buy bread baked in oak pans, some sausage rolls or a meat pie or two, and an apple fritter.

Start the kettle, grind some beans, load up the French press. Pick a playlist. Feed the dog - I’m not a monster, let her eat, too.

Pour the boiling water into the press, set the timer. Decide where I’m going to sit; on the verandah? On the patio? On the sofa? Find the current book I’m reading. Gather a throw or a cushion or a wide-brimmed floppy hat; whatever I need to make myself comfy for the next little while.

Set the fritter on a plate with a napkin, pour the coffee, add sugar and cream. Smell that, watch the steam serpentine its way heavenward.

Take the coffee and the fritter to the spot I’ve chosen, settle in. Send up a prayer of gratitude. Eat the fritter - one bite, one sip of hot coffee. Listen to the cicadas, the sound of the waterfall in the pond, the snoring of the yella dog.

Breathe. Be warm, and cosy, and grateful.

 

Wow, you sound like a woman.

For me, it would be drive to the bakery. Buy meat stuff, maybe a glazed doughnut.

Kick the dog out of the way.

Coffee? Naw, grab a beer.

Baseball cap already on just after getting out of bed to hide bed head hair.

Slam down the doughnut, wipe mouth on sleeve - there's no napkins within reach. Blow the fucking steam away from the beer.

And be grateful wherever I happened to land, cause in no way was it planned.

 

Well, last time I checked, I am a woman.

I told you, those doughnuts were my church. They required ritual.
